Vintage Persian Pure Wool Hand-Knotted Oriental Rug-Shahbanu Rugs

Persian rugs are usually made in hand knotted technique with natural material. The ancient and complex designs, natural wool material, stability and widespread workmanship are the features that make these rugs the most valuable ones.  The value of these rugs increases as the time passes.
Both types of rugs are hand knotted in such a way that it can bring joy and beauty to your home. Some undisclosed facts about these rugs are revealed here in this blog post.

Unknown facts revealed:

-        -  The term “Persian rug” and “Oriental rug” are used for the same type of rugs. But, in reality, both differ from each other.  Persian and oriental indicate the area from where the designs have been originated.  During ancient times, rugs made from Asia or Middle East (China, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, etc) were known as oriental rugs.

-         - Persian rugs are usually made in the Middle- East, especially Iran which was previously known as Persia.  We can say that Persian rug is the sub group of Oriental rug.

-         - Every Oriental rug is not Persian but every Persian rug is oriental. Persian rugs became more popular among Europeans.  Both the types refer to the style, design and not the area from where they are made.

-         - These carpets are extremely popular all around the world. The rugs should be handmade by skilled craftsmen. Nowadays, rugs are made using machines for dye and thread but oriental and Persian carpets are 100% woven by hands.

-         - As the time passed, these designs were also produced elsewhere as the popularity increased. But the names of the designs remained the same. Some of the popular Persian rug design names are Tabrez, Isfahan, Nain, Kashan, etc.

-         - Both Persian and oriental rugs are hand knotted.

Important:  If any seller is showing you machine made rugs and claims it to be Persian rugs. He/she is misleading you because Persian and oriental rugs are 100% hand knotted. This is a key to check whether you are purchasing original oriental and Persian rugs or not.

Remember this while purchasing Persian rugs online.
